The Regional Training Centre, in Eindhoven.

Eindhoven Badminton Academy holds RTC status under Badminton Nederland, and RTC-EBA is the high-performance youth programme run under it. Players are selected by the EBA and Badminton Nederland coaching staff on talent, performance and commitment. Players from other clubs and badminton schools are welcome.

Four sessions a week, minimum

That intensity is the point of the programme. It is not offered at a lower frequency, and Badminton Nederland has confirmed that four RTC sessions a week is also a prerequisite for the national junior pathway. If four days will not fit the week, EBA Selection is the right programme — same venues, same coaching team, up to three sessions.

For RTC-EBA, contributions are collected monthly — the annual figures are for comparison only. July and most of August count as summer vacation. Competition participation is €130 for the season, plus €27 for a BN id if the player does not have one.

The player agreement

Players and their parents or guardians sign a Spelersovereenkomst covering commitment, attendance and conduct. It runs season to season without re-signing; the programme and pricing sit in an annex that is updated each season.

Open to other clubs

Talented players from other clubs and badminton schools train in RTC-EBA. You do not have to leave your club to be assessed.

Selected jointly

Selection is made by the EBA coaching staff together with Badminton Nederland, not by application. Badminton Nederland also runs its own RTC voorspeeldagen.

Coached by an ex-Olympian

Our head coach played at the Olympics. RTC-EBA and EBA Selection share the same venues and the same coaching team.

Questions parents ask

How is my child assessed?
Use the assessment button above. A coach reads what you send and arranges to see the player — at EBA or at their own club. It is free and it commits you to nothing. If RTC is not the right level yet, we will say so and point you at the programme that is.
What do you look at?
Technical foundation, movement and footwork, match understanding, and how the player trains — attitude, coachability and consistency. Results matter less than trajectory. We also look honestly at whether the family can support four or more sessions a week.
My child is new to badminton. Can we ask for an assessment?
Please start with EBA Foundational instead. The assessment is for players who already train in a structured way or compete. Foundational coaches flag talented children to the Selection and RTC staff themselves, so nothing is missed.
Can we train three times a week instead?
No. Four is the minimum for RTC-EBA and Badminton Nederland has confirmed that national junior training does not substitute for a fourth RTC session. EBA Selection exists precisely for players who want serious coaching at up to three sessions a week.
Is the family discount available?
No. It is limited to Recreational Adults, Recreational University Students and EBA Foundational, and a household containing an RTC-EBA player does not qualify at all — including a recreational sibling or parent.
